Complex Familiars—much like Simple Familiars—are often quite specialized in what they can offer to a human companion. Where they typically differ is in in their ability to understand, empathize, and communicate with their humans in a way that more closely resembles sapient spirit interactions. Whether it's the use of telepathy, the ability to understand the spoken word, or possessing a wider array of emotions and desires, Complex Familiars are a good middle ground between Simple Familiars and our regular preconjures. Complex Familiars tend to have more nuance between members of the same species, while others may have more involved histories besides the typical day-to-day survival of hunt or gather, sleep, and eat. Some even have a strong understanding of the human nature. There are many reasons why a familiar might be considered more complex compared to a similar species or those with a more simple existence, and ultimately these complexities mean that they take longer to vet. While they don't take as long as our standard conjures, there are enough variables to warrant the additional time spent getting to know certain individuals. You can expect an RA or RC service to take 2-3 months.
About Celestial Unicorns

When they make matches with human companions, they tend to live in junk drawers or trinket boxes or in cupboards and feed off the energy of food waste if their companion allows them to live with them full time as a house spirit. Otherwise, they always have a connection back to their home realm and can easily travel to you when called. They are exceptionally good at grounding techniques and love using comforting spices to achieve this.
About Crossroad Hounds
Hailing from Gaia, Crossroad Hounds claim the Realm of Decay as their territory. Feeding on the energy and flesh of undead things, these opportunistic feeders are not beneath scavenging but significantly prefer the thrill of the hunt. Bold as brass, these hounds are darning enough to go after Gaian Kelpies when the mood strikes. Typically these hounds are summoned and bound by demons looking for teeth and claws to serve them as they fulfill their infernal contracts and claim Gaian souls, but a Crossroad Hounds' strength lies in tracking and in banishment. With strong noses and loud cries that install fright that permanently chases away vengeful or malicious spirits, Crossroad Hounds make great allies for those who like to traverse through the dark and dangerous places throughout the astral.
About Forest Dragons
While these dragons—or more accurately drakes—are simple when it comes to their daily lives, their telepathy makes them capable of conveying themselves in more articulate ways to their companions. Naturally territorial, Forest Dragons are likely to be extremely protective of you, your home, your immediate family, and any workspaces you occupy and permit them to visit. Without a proper outlet for this facet of their nature, these beasts can become temperamental and haughty. This species is recommended for practitioners who are comfortable directing and tasking their familiars. Native to the same hell realm as the Hellians, Infernal Tigers are bred and trained to be battle cats during times of war. When the battles have been fought and peace is all that's left, Infernal Tigers can become listless without purpose. Hellian handlers and breeders felt that companionship offered a unique opportunity to put the Infernal Tigers' offensive skills to good use, all while simultaneously ensuring their continued mental health. Although these lesser demons cannot speak, the way they communicate with imagery and vocalizations shows a great depth of intelligence and a wide range of emotions. At the end of the day they will defend their human companions to the bitter end, forging meaningfully bonds that cannot be eroded by time.
About Lilac Fairies

About Painted Dogs of War
Much like the Infernal Tigers, Painted Dogs of War come from the same hell realm and are lesser demons trained for combat. While the tigers are released in a fashion that resembles berserkers, Painted Dogs are more controlled and exacting. Hand raised by breeders who seek certain temperaments, Painted Dogs are taught obedience in order to follow strict commands delivered by squadron leaders. When there are no battles they are kept for a different reason: dog fighting. This is a source of entertainment for Hellians where they can gamble and blow off steam, but there has been—thankfully—a cultural shift away from this old post-war tradition. Primarily rescues or retired dogs seeking well deserved rest, as familiars they yearn to be useful and are eager to assist with security around the home and with breaking down baneful magic directed your way.
About Spectral Dogs
Once witches themselves, much of a Spectral Dog's previous identity is lost in death. Despite this, Spectral Dogs retain a great deal of magical knowledge and use this in order to serve as teachers, showing witches how to further refine and perfect their craft. When a bond has been made with a human, Spectral Dogs watch over the family tree until no more branches are added. While they do not reveal themselves to every new individual born or adopted, Spectral Dogs may appear to one budding witch per generation whom they deem worthy of their teachings. Rather picky about the people they serve as stewards to, their approval can be hard won. But Spectral Dog are astute and know exactly what potential a witch possesses and how best to bring it out of them. They have high expectations of their humans, but it is because they know how capable they truly are.

While Sunflower Fairies primarily work with solar and summer energies—and a dash of green witchery tossed into the mix—as primarily friendship-based companions they are often passionate hype masters.
