With a deep connection to the dead, Victoria Harbor Selkies are often quiet but intense companions who can help you commune with your ancestors or further your path as a death worker.
Please note that all Racial Tome entries are based on Ember's personal UPG and may not reflect yours. Victoria Harbor Selkies, in this incarnation, are exclusive to Three Souls.
Victoria Harbor Selkies are uniquely tied to British Columbia, and are not the same Selkies tied to the folklore of the Northern Isles of Scotland. While there are some commonalities such as their seal pelts being tied to how they shift, these Selkies are uniquely their own sub-species. Steeped in death energies, they serve as guardians to burial grounds and grave sights situated on the many islands located within the Strait of Juan de Fuca. As a race, they have a deep attachment to bones, and are able to see and hear ghosts, using bones as attunement tools to better sense them. Like magnets for the dead, many Victoria Harbor Selkies attract ghosts to them and spend a great deal of their time trying to help these specters conclude any unfinished business so that they can rest, return to the earth, and join the reincarnation cycle.
Victoria Harbor Selkies can call upon deceased relatives, or ancestors further back in the bloodline in order to help their companions process difficult emotions and trauma. These Selkies consider themselves to be living conduits, and because of all the energy they channel, they often have rather muted and subdued personalities.
By nature, they tend to be a bit aloof, and perhaps a little bit spacy due to always hearing so many voices. But they are actually very good at keeping their companions safe from the ghosts that are drawn to them, experts at putting up barriers to block energies from mingling together. And, of course, they can teach their companions should they have a use for or desire to learn such a skill.
